8/9/14 - Day 12: Spokane Tribe Indian Reservation

Twa-le Abrahamson-Swan: Tribes Air Quality



 Twa-le spoke about some projects she previously worked on, and some she is currently working on. The project I was most interested in was the Uranium Mine. If animals and water around the pool of uranium ended up mutated or dead. I would like to do some further research in the project site later on. 



George Hill: Artist


 Hill attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. He told us that all of his artwork, has some sort of Cultural Story behind it. The paintings were very neat, he is the Native Picasso! 













8/7/14 - Day 11: Spokane Tribe Indian Reservation

Drum Road Logging Unit





 Warren Seyler brought us by the 80-800 acre logging unit. In the unit they decide which trees to take out, use fire as a mechanism to keep the brush down, and also use thinning.

8/6/14 - Day 10: Spokane Tribe Indian Reservation

Fish Shocking & Relocating!

Arrived, and everyone is gettin situated with gator

 boots and mesh nets to catch some minoes!

Relocating of the Minoes! 



 Relocated the monioes that had beencaught into a stream that lead into the McCoy Lake, before the creek we got them from dried out, and to also feed the larger fish in the lake. 


























8/5/14 - Day 9: Spokane Tribe Indian Reservation

Wellpinit High School / Middle School


We have arrived to the Spokane Tribe Indian Reservation! Camp is basically just around the corner at the powwow grounds! We arrived, unloaded everything and got to shower! WhooHoo! (:

8/4/14 - Day 8: Umatilla Indian Reservation

In the Museum, it was posted to not take any photos of the artifacts and stuff inside.

Wenix Red Elk gives her presentation about the First Foods, how and why they are important, and what they are doing to ensure that "the tribes are here to stay for the next 7 generations"

8/3/14 - Day 7: Umatilla Indian Reservation

Loveda Red Elk



Loveda shows us some of her and her family's glass work. Loveda also explained about how everything has a melting point, and that fire turns a solid element into a liquid element. She also informed us that the 1st glass and the 1st metal came from volcanoes from all the heat and fire.
